Bye Bye England!

Well, here I am! Sat on the plane ready to take off! Staying in North Carolina, USA for a whole year! (With a sneaky visit back at christmas).
Super excited, nervous, happy, a little sad but mostly excited! I will miss everyone at home but will make lots of new friends and learn a lot!
Wish me luck!

Blood Donation

Hi there, I’m back with another bucket list item I already did before making this blog 🙂 Back in 2013 I gave blood for the first time! At the same time I registered as an organ donor. Recently I haven’t been able to give blood because I was anaemic but I was allowed to give blood again a few days ago.

Hopefully when I get back from my year abroad I will be able to register as a bone marrow donor!

7 Cups Of Tea

Last night I decided to tackle one of my easier bucket list items. I decided to become a listener on 7cupsoftea.com

Basically it is a service for people who are struggling with personal issues, or just generally need someone to talk to. All the listeners are volunteers who go through a short training session online before becoming a listener.

Being a listener is tough. You hear about what these people are struggling with, but have to refrain from giving opinions or advice. The job of the listener is to be neutral and guide the person through the conversation to help them open up. Giving advice is bad because, what may work for you could actually be harmful to others.

As a listener you can get personal requests to talk from members who have viewed your biography, talk with people whom you’ve spoken to before or talk to someone new from the general request list- a person who is waiting in a queue for someone to talk to. All conversations are kept private and confidential.

For me, this was an important thing on my bucket list because I wanted to be able to give back to others. I’m glad I’ve done it and I hope to donate at least an hour of my time each week to continuing to do so. If anyone ever needs someone to talk to, go to 7cupsoftea.com. If you want to talk to me specifically, but stay anonymous, my referral link is: http://www.7cupsoftea.com/12256319

Stay happy!

Holi Festival!

Here is the first of the bucket list things that I already completed before I started this blog! I went to the Holi Festival in London in June 2014 with
my gorgeous boyfriend.

It was so amazing! The music wasn’t my style but the atmosphere more than made up for it. They did a countdown every hour so we could all throw paint at the same time to make a beautiful multicoloured cloud 🙂 I would love to go again but even better, I would love to go to a real Holi Festival in India!

My advice for anyone who does this? Take a disposable camera like I did!

Hi there! :)

I’m Emma 🙂 I decided to start this blog to show you guys my year abroad in the USA. Also I decided to start a bucket list, and would love somewhere to upload and show off all my pictures as I do stuff from it. I hope you can bear with me at first, it may take a little while to get started!

Soon I will upload pictures and talk about the things on my bucket list that I already got to do 🙂

Until then, stay happy! 🙂
